A concert by soloists of the renowned St. Petersburg Opera titled “World Opera Masterpieces” will be held tonight, May 11, 2026, at 8 p.m. on the stage of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka.
The event is being organized as part of the “Days of St. Petersburg in Republika Srpska” manifestation, with the support of the Government of St. Petersburg and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Guardians of the St. Petersburg opera tradition
Founded by legendary director Yuri Alexandrov, St. Petersburg Opera is considered one of the most recognizable brands of Russian musical culture. The theatre is internationally known for its камерни and deeply emotional approach to major opera scores, as well as for the outstanding vocal artistry of its performers.
Yuri Alexandrov’s productions have appeared on the stages of some of the world’s leading opera houses, including Arena di Verona, Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, as well as the Bolshoi Theatre and Mariinsky Theatre.
Third visit to Banja Luka
This upcoming performance will mark the ensemble’s third visit to Banja Luka, where their previous concerts were met with great acclaim from local audiences.
The theatre regularly performs around the world, including in France, Greece, Serbia, China and the United States.
Programme for classical music lovers
The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy performances by leading soloists and laureates of international competitions, including:

Accompanied by concertmaster Maria Chernysheva, the artists will perform arias and duets from operas by Gioachino Rossini, Vincenzo Bellini, Charles Gounod and Pyotr Tchaikovsky, as well as famous romances by Russian composers.
The programme has been designed to appeal both to experienced classical music enthusiasts and to audiences discovering opera for the first time.
