U.S. President Donald Trump has given people around the world hope that traditional values can be restored, which is why he received support from Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik said in an interview with the Wayne Allyn Root YouTube channel.
Dodik said Trump represented a significant change on the global political stage as early as 2016.
“In Brussels and Washington, globalists and their policies were threatening certain values. They did not care about national identities and peoples. Trump gave everyone hope that those values could return. We supported him because he supported humanity and human values,” Dodik said.
He criticized the U.S. Democratic Party, arguing that it had promoted globalism and what he described as “quasi-liberal values.”
“That threatened the entire world, including my people,” Dodik said.
He also emphasized that the Serb people had suffered during the wars and argued that Trump’s emergence created an opportunity for Serb perspectives to receive greater attention in Washington.
“Trump opened the door. Finally, someone appeared who was willing to listen to us, and we recognized that. I supported him as a leader,” Dodik said.
Dodik also referred to U.S. sanctions previously imposed on him, linking them to his political support for Trump.
“I was sanctioned by the Democratic administration because I supported Trump. The Trump administration lifted those sanctions,” Dodik said.
He noted that Trump’s electoral victory was celebrated in Republika Srpska and described his return to power as a source of optimism.
“Trump’s arrival brought hope to us and to the entire world,” Dodik concluded.
