“Citizens of Republika Srpska can be assured that better times are definitely ahead of us, and we must make the most of them,” Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović said following her meeting at the White House with Susie Wiles, chief of staff to U.S. President Donald Trump and one of his closest advisers.
“The meeting was extremely important and, I would say, very pleasant. We discussed important issues for Republika Srpska, as well as the overall situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and our region. We are definitely strengthening some old friendships, opening new doors and building new friendships,” Cvijanović said.
She emphasized that her current visit was also focused on strengthening these relationships.
“Ms. Susie Wiles is President Trump’s chief of staff and one of his closest, if not his closest, advisers. It was important to discuss all of these political issues, as well as matters of economic importance, including Republika Srpska as a potential investment destination. It was also important to deepen mutual understanding on certain issues that may have remained insufficiently clarified in the previous period,” she said.
Cvijanović described the current period as the beginning of a new chapter.
“I definitely see that we have opened some doors that were previously unimaginable, when it was almost impossible even to think about entering through those doors, having discussions and engaging in substantive talks, with someone willing to listen to you, understand your position and approach Republika Srpska in a friendly manner,” Cvijanović said.
She announced that further talks in Washington are expected relatively soon.
“We will return here soon, as agreed, in approximately a month to a month and a half, to continue discussing some of the issues we began addressing today, with certain activities expected to follow,” C
