The Dayton Peace Agreement provided Republika Srpska with protection under international law, Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan said during an appearance on RTRS’s Pečat program.
“The winds in the world have changed, and we have kept pace with those changes. Key steps have been taken to completely change the narrative that portrayed Serbs as the ‘bad guys’ for 30 years. That happened simply because the truth reached all the centers of power. That is why Republika Srpska is no longer burdened by that negative narrative,” Karan said.
Karan argued that Republika Srpska has faced continuous political and institutional pressure in various forms over the past three decades.
“Just remember what the high representatives did here. They themselves probably cannot believe that Republika Srpska survived after everything they did against us. There were 913 decisions directed against the interests of Republika Srpska,” Karan said.
He also criticized decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH concerning Republika Srpska’s symbols and the observance of January 9.
“Through the Constitutional Court of BiH, they took away our coat of arms, anthem and flag. They also tried with January 9, but they did not succeed, because the people protect Republika Srpska and will continue to protect it,” Karan said.
