The 28th Historians’ Meeting has begun in Gacko with the presentation of the “Vladimir Ćorović” Award for scientific achievement in the field of historiography.
This year’s “Vladimir Ćorović” Award was presented to the Association of Archival Workers of Republika Srpska for the work Leaders of the People: Biographies of Serb Uprising Leaders in Herzegovina and Bosnia, 1875–1878.
Nine historians and university professors worked on the publication, which covers the biographies of around 50 uprising leaders from these regions.
The traditional program continues on Friday with panel discussions on the topics “Prominent Herzegovinians throughout history” and “750 years since the Battle of Gatačko Polje.”
The Ćorović Historians’ Meeting is organized by the Gacko branch of the Serb Educational and Cultural Society “Prosvjeta.”
