The third day of this year’s A String Fest, September 6, will feature a special artistic event at Banski Dvor — a concert by the internationally acclaimed No Borders Orchestra, a symphonic ensemble bringing together leading professional musicians from across the Western Balkans.
No Borders Orchestra is a unique artistic project that has spent more than a decade using music to transcend ethnic, religious, and national boundaries, creating space for encounters, cooperation, and dialogue.
Founded in Belgrade and Berlin in 2012, the ensemble combines outstanding artistic quality with a strong social message. In 2023, No Borders Orchestra received the Dr. Erhard Busek Champion of Regional Cooperation Award, presented by the Regional Cooperation Council and the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs.
Another recognition of the ensemble’s artistic quality is its collaboration with Universal Music and the release of its first album under Deutsche Grammophon, one of the world’s most prestigious classical music labels.
Audiences at Banski Dvor will have an opportunity to hear contemporary works that are less familiar to the wider public, as well as one of the best-known works in classical music — the Adagietto from Gustav Mahler’s Fifth Symphony.
Mahler’s Adagietto takes on special significance within the program. The piece is often interpreted as a musical love letter that Mahler dedicated to Alma Mahler, his future wife.
No Borders Orchestra is known for contemporary, exciting, and often unexpected projects that combine exceptional musicianship with reflection on the society in which we live.
Over more than a decade, the ensemble has performed at numerous prestigious festivals and venues across Europe and the world, including Vienna, Brussels, Paris, Marseille, Brisbane, London, Hamburg, Berlin, Athens, and many other cities.
Tickets for the concert are priced at 20 KM. Music lovers wishing to attend the entire festival can also purchase a three-day A String Fest pass for 50 KM.
The organizers of A String Fest have invited audiences to be part of this special artistic event and experience No Borders Orchestra — an ensemble whose work demonstrates that music knows no borders.
