A String Fest from September 4 to 6 in Banja Luka: Three days of top-class music

Banja Luka will host “A String Fest” from September 4 to 6, a string music festival featuring concerts by prominent artists, educational programs, masterclasses and activities for the youngest audiences. The program will take place at several venues across the city.

The festival opens on Friday, September 4, with the concert “Memories” at the Banski Dvor Cultural Center at 8 p.m. The festival ensemble, bringing together seven artists, will perform works by Gabriel Fauré, Gustav Mahler, Gideon Klein and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The same day will feature masterclasses for violin, viola and cello led by Nikola Pančić, Dejan Mlađenović and Jeremias Fliedl. At the Milanović House, visitors will also have an opportunity to attend an Open Studio dedicated to the making and restoration of string instruments.

Saturday’s program begins at 10 a.m. with a concert for babies at Banski Dvor. At 8 p.m., the duo Almir Mešković and Daniel Lazar will perform, presenting their distinctive blend of folk traditions, improvisation and contemporary musical expression.

On Sunday, September 6, the “Following the Balkans” matinee concert will be held at the Museum of Republika Srpska at noon, featuring the Resonus ensemble and violinists Mirjana Nešković and Jelena Dimitrijević. Admission to the concert is free.

The festival finale is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Banski Dvor, where the No Borders Orchestra will present its new production, “Lovers Tour.” The program features contemporary works as well as Mahler’s famous “Adagietto.”

Organizers say that “A String Fest” aims to connect artists, young musicians and audiences by bringing together high-quality chamber and symphonic music, education and contemporary artistic expression.

Tickets for festival concerts are available through the Gigstix platform, while admission to the “Following the Balkans” concert is free.
