Children from Trebinje will take part in the commemoration marking the 110th anniversary of the Serbian Army’s landing on Corfu, Serbian Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski and Trebinje Mayor Mirko Ćurić agreed during a meeting in Trebinje.
It was emphasized that the initiative will give children from Trebinje an opportunity to learn firsthand about one of the most significant events in Serbian history and pay tribute to their ancestors, whose sacrifice laid the foundations for Serbia’s freedom and statehood.
The meeting also reaffirmed strong cooperation between Serbia and the City of Trebinje in nurturing a culture of remembrance and preserving national identity, with particular attention devoted to involving young people in programs aimed at preserving the historical memory of the Serbian people, the Serbian Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs said in a statement.
Đurđević Stamenkovski stressed that it is of crucial importance for younger generations to become guardians of historical memory and, through programs such as this one, develop an understanding of the sacrifice, suffering and heroism of the Serbian people, Srna reported.
