The production “Victor, or Children in Power” by Magdalena Theatre from Maribor was named the overall winner of the 69th Festival of Festivals, which concluded in Trebinje after showcasing the region’s finest amateur theatre productions.
The festival’s highest honours, the Golden Masks, were presented during the closing ceremony.
By unanimous decision of the jury, the Maribor ensemble emerged as the most successful participant, winning five Golden Masks. The production received awards for Best Performance, Best Direction (Bora Grigorović), and Best Set Design, while Janez Ivačič was named Best Actor.
The Golden Mask for Best Supporting Actress was awarded to Katarina Berčič.
The Audience Award for Best Performance went to “Doubt”, staged by the Kula Cultural Centre, which collected four Golden Masks, including the award for Best Ensemble Performance.
Acting awards were also presented to Dragica Jotanović and Slobodan Nogavica, while Slobodan Stanković received the award for Best Costume Design. The Golden Mask for Best Original Music went to “Flame of Silence”, performed by DIS Theatre from Banja Luka.
Over the course of seven festival days, amateur theatre companies from Republika Srpska, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, and North Macedonia presented their productions, celebrating the diversity and vitality of amateur theatre across the region.
