President Milorad Dodik has announced that he is expected to visit Russia again at the end of September.
“I am planning that visit for late September. Everything depends on the schedule and calendar of senior Russian officials, with whom I will coordinate,” Dodik told RIA Novosti.
Speaking about the European Union, Dodik said there is no unity within the bloc, arguing that the European political elite is currently facing a deep crisis and that, once peace is achieved in Ukraine, the reasons for its unity will disappear.
“I believe a new European elite will emerge and that sovereignty-oriented movements will prevail within the EU and across Europe, focusing on their own states and the protection of their peoples, rather than on ideologies such as neoliberalism, which have brought nothing good to their nations,” Dodik said.
According to him, the current European leadership has pursued the wrong policy by taking part in the conflict in Ukraine and adopting what he described as a one-sided position in favor of Kyiv.
“The decision to antagonize Russia was a mistake. Europe cannot survive without Russian resources. European elites also fell for the policy of isolating Russia promoted by former U.S. President Joseph Biden, but we now see that the energy crisis is the root of all other crises. Therefore, I expect the European Union to reconsider its policies and approaches,” Dodik added.
Asked what he expects from the upcoming elections in Serbia, Dodik said he believes they will confirm the leadership of President Aleksandar Vučić and help Serbia heal its internal divisions.
“That division is evident in the protests by those who have readily accepted becoming servants of foreign interests, primarily those of the West, and who will not achieve any significant political success,” Dodik said.
He added that Republika Srpska has had a very positive experience with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and his team.
“We have received economic support and political understanding in defending the status of Republika Srpska,” Dodik said.
