Trišić Babić for RTRS: collapse of today’s meeting

Acting Director of the Office for International Cooperation of Republika Srpska Ana Trišić Babić told RTRS that it is not normal that, 30 years after the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, foreigners are still coming to Sarajevo to make decisions.

  • The collapse of today’s PIC meeting, which was supposed to be routine but was not, demonstrates a major disagreement between the United States and the countries of the European Union. It also shows that the PIC is not a real organization, because if it had been established by an agreement, its rules and procedures would be clearly defined – she stated.

Trišić Babić added that they do not even have that.

  • It is unfair that certain EU countries did not allow this process to be completed today. That is highly dishonorable on their part – she said, emphasizing that what took place in Sarajevo was a completely closed and non-transparent process in which foreigners were once again trying to decide on behalf of the people living in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Brčko District.

Political directors of the member states of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council failed to reach a consensus during a two-day meeting in Sarajevo regarding a candidate for High Representative, even though this is not within their authority, and postponed the decision until the end of the month.
