Spanish journalist Víctor Romero was a guest of the Football Association of Republika Srpska and watched the UEFA Europa Conference League Round of 16 match between Banja Luka’s Borac and Vienna’s Rapid live in Banja Luka. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Immediately after the dramatic encounter, Romero shared his impressions through online articles and video materials, reporting on the match from the largest city in Republika Srpska.

In his article for the Spanish sports outlet Marca, accompanied by a video featuring the fans, he wrote:
“Balkan fans are among the most passionate in the world. It doesn’t matter whether it’s Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia… or Republika Srpska! The Round of 16 match between Banja Luka’s Borac and Vienna’s Rapid is already part of Bosnian football history, as this is the first time a club from the country has reached this knockout stage in a European competition. However, Borac’s fans do not identify with the country of the blue and yellow flag,” Romero noted in his report, which can be accessed via this link.
He said he expected an electrifying atmosphere and that the fans did not disappoint him.
“The display of flares, flags, scarves, and firecrackers was matched by a massive police presence aimed at preventing incidents in the hours leading up to a match that will go down in history,” the Spanish journalist concluded, as reported by Glas Srpske.
