Dodik: Republika Srpska will not abandon its political struggle for its rights

SNSD leader Milorad Dodik told SRNA that maintaining peace is of utmost importance and stressed that Republika Srpska has no intention of creating instability in Bosnia and Herzegovina or leading the country toward any form of conflict.

  • We intend to continue fighting politically for our rights, and we will not give up on that. Bosnia and Herzegovina has no chance of enduring global instability unless an internal consensus is reached without solutions being imposed by international actors – Dodik stated.

He argued that externally imposed solutions would not succeed in Bosnia and Herzegovina because, in his view, the international actors promoting them are themselves engaged in global competition over spheres of influence.

  • If we accept foreign tutelage, or imposed solutions, then we have accepted behaving according to the dictates of those quasi-centres of power. European countries are not a relevant factor today, nor is the European Union, which has lost battles in every field, whether military or otherwise – Dodik said.

According to him, the European Union, originally conceived as a political and economic community, is increasingly evolving into a military alliance, which he believes should be carefully considered.

  • If that is the direction being taken, we must think about it, because it is not impossible that our people could one day be mobilized for conflicts and wars that are not their own. These are questions we must keep in mind – he added.

Speaking about current geopolitical developments, Dodik said that rather than seeing existing crises resolved, the world is likely to face the emergence of new problems across Europe and beyond.

  • We are living through the consequences of conflicts among major powers, which recognize that the unipolar world has collapsed and that a multipolar order is emerging. Various elements of that new order are now being put in place – he said.

Dodik argued that the process of shaping a multipolar world will take many years and that at least another decade may be required before its contours become fully defined.

  • We can already see the early outlines of a world with several centres of global power. These centres are trying to establish and strengthen their positions through political, cultural, security, and military influence – he explained.

He said these trends have become increasingly visible in recent years.

Dodik also pointed to natural resources, oil, and energy supplies as major global challenges.

  • We will continue to face numerous difficulties and the possibility of new conflicts. The only truly relevant question for us is how we will navigate these developments and protect our interests throughout the process – Dodik concluded.
