Young accordionist Miloš Cvijić wins gold at prestigious festival in Pula

Accordion player Miloš Cvijić from the “Kornelije Stanković” Music School in Ugljevik won the gold medal in the under-11 category at the 49th International Accordion Festival in Pula, one of the most prestigious and oldest accordion competitions in the former Yugoslavia.

Ten-year-old Cvijić achieved this success in exceptionally strong international competition, the music school announced.

Held from May 19 to 22, the festival gathered more than 600 contestants from 24 countries, once again confirming its status as one of the most important accordion events in the region and Europe.

The school stated that this result is another confirmation of the high quality of work at the “Kornelije Stanković” Music School, as well as the continuity of top-level achievements by students from the class of professor Slaviša Perić.

For years, professor Perić’s students have been winning gold medals and top awards at the Pula Festival, which is considered one of the most demanding accordion competitions in the region. Such results reflect serious and dedicated pedagogical work, as well as the exceptionally high standard of musical education provided by the school to young talents.

Particularly notable is the historic success achieved in 2022 by Đorđe Perić, who won the maximum 100 points — a result not recorded at the Pula Festival since 1989.

“The new success of Miloš Cvijić confirms that the ‘Kornelije Stanković’ Music School Ugljevik–Bijeljina continues to produce outstanding accordionists who worthily represent their school, city and Republika Srpska on the international stage through their talent, work and achievements,” the statement added.
