Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Kalabukhov emphasized that it is extremely important for the Serb and Russian peoples in Banja Luka to jointly mark May 9, as the legacy of the heroic struggle must be preserved.
“This is our shared holiday, and I am especially pleased that young people respect the legacy of the anti-fascist struggle,” Kalabukhov said.
Speaking at the commemoration of May 9 — Victory Day over fascism — he stressed that the Red Army brought freedom to Europe and many nations.
“We jointly defend true values, and I am confident that this will continue,” Kalabukhov added.
He noted that it is very important that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leadership of Republika Srpska will hold talks in Moscow today.
“I believe this will be an opportunity for new plans of cooperation in politics, the economy, agriculture, and science. This is yet another proof of the durability of our friendship,” Kalabukhov concluded.
