The Day of Remembrance for victims of the Ustaša genocide in the Jasenovac concentration camp will be marked in Donja Gradina and Kozarska Dubica.
A memorial academy will be held tomorrow in Kozarska Dubica, while on Sunday a liturgy will be served at the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
At the Donja Gradina Memorial Site, on April 19, a memorial service and commemoration for the victims of genocide will be held, followed by the laying of wreaths and flowers at the Topole grave field, after which officials are scheduled to address attendees.
Director of the Donja Gradina Memorial Site, Tanja Tuleković, told RTRS that this year’s memorial academy will be held under the title “Mother Kozara.”
Tuleković invited citizens to attend the commemoration in Donja Gradina on Sunday and send a message that the victims have not been forgotten.
According to data from the Donja Gradina Memorial Site, 700,000 people were killed in the Jasenovac concentration camp, including 500,000 Serbs, 40,000 Roma, 33,000 Jews, and 127,000 anti-fascists. Among the victims were 20,000 children.
