Željka Cvijanović has proposed an emergency session of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina to adopt a decision condemning Iran’s attacks on countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Jordan.
The proposed decision would also include support for, and co-sponsorship of, a resolution of the United Nations Human Rights Council addressing the same issue.
According to the proposal, in light of the latest escalation in the Middle East—including attacks targeting multiple states not directly involved in the conflict—it is necessary for the Presidency to adopt a clear, timely, and unequivocal position.
Backing and co-sponsoring the resolution would signal Bosnia and Herzegovina’s commitment to international law, solidarity with affected countries, and the protection of civilians.
Given that the Human Rights Council debate is scheduled for March 25, Cvijanović emphasized the need for a prompt decision that would enable Bosnia and Herzegovina to actively participate, including through co-sponsorship and clear diplomatic positioning.
