Strong European performances by HŠK Zrinjski Mostar two seasons ago, Borac Banja Luka last season, and again Zrinjski this year have significantly boosted Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national UEFA coefficient.

For the third consecutive year, clubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina—Zrinjski twice and Borac once—have played in the group stage, now called the league phase, of the UEFA Europa Conference League, earning the country a higher starting European coefficient.
Instead of the previous baseline of 1.500, clubs will now begin the upcoming European season with a coefficient of 2.081. This applies to teams entering European competitions for the first time or those that have not played internationally in the past five years.
Currently, NK Široki Brijeg sits fourth in the domestic table. If they qualify for Europe, they would start with the 2.081 coefficient, as they have not defended the 1.000 points earned in 2021. The same would apply if Sloga Doboj, Radnik Bijeljina, Laktaši, or GOŠK Gabela were to win the national cup.
Good news for Velež
Positive news also comes for FK Velež Mostar, which will carry a coefficient of 4.500 next season. However, if it fails to defend the 2.000 points from the 2021/22 campaign, that figure will drop in the following year.
FK Sarajevo has seen its coefficient decrease from 6.000 to 5.000, while FK Željezničar Sarajevo stands at 2.500.
Title race and European seeding
As things stand, Borac and Zrinjski are the only serious title contenders. Whichever of the two wins the championship would be seeded in the first two qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League.
With their current coefficients, both clubs would also be seeded in all four qualifying rounds of the Conference League. Sarajevo and Velež would be seeded in the first round—and potentially the second—of Conference League qualifiers, while any other club would enter the competition unseeded.
