Karan meets Ginkel, reaffirms commitment to Dayton

The Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, John Ginkel, congratulated the President of Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, on his election victory, stating that the United States remains committed to constructive cooperation with Republika Srpska and partners across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ginkel held a substantive and productive meeting with Karan and former Acting President of Republika Srpska Ana Trivić Babić, during which they discussed partnership, cooperation, and better opportunities for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Republika Srpska.

“The United States remains committed to constructive cooperation with Republika Srpska and partners across Bosnia and Herzegovina with the goal of expanding shared opportunities, strengthening long-term stability, and encouraging U.S. investments that will contribute to a more prosperous future for both of our countries,” the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina said in a post on X.

The President of Republika Srpska emphasized that Republika Srpska is committed to respecting the letter of the Dayton Peace Agreement and preserving the constitutional position of Republika Srpska.

During the meeting, the President of Republika Srpska stressed that the institutions of Republika Srpska are a constructive partner focused on cooperation and on preserving peace and stability, the Office of the President of Republika Srpska announced.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of the U.S. Embassy Office in Banja Luka, Todd Bullock.

The new President of Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, took the ceremonial oath today in the National Assembly.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed on February 13 that Karan, the SNSD candidate, was elected President of Republika Srpska.
