“The 19th economic and tourism event ‘Days of Winter on Kozara’ was held at Mrakovica. This year’s edition recorded a record number of teams and an excellent atmosphere among participants in gastronomic and sports competitions.”
“The event is organized by the Prijedor Tourism Organization, with the support of the Kozara National Park, the Tourism Organization of Republika Srpska, and municipalities and cities of the Potkozarje region. The goal is to promote Kozara and its tourism potential.”
“‘Good homemade beans, homemade cured meat, homemade sausages,’ says Marko Lukić from Donji Podgradci.”
“And it can’t be bad, says Marko from Donji Podgradci. While the beans were cooking, bread was baking—a winning combination for sub-zero temperatures on the mountain.”
“‘We’re cooking beans here; it’s our small contribution so people can have something warm to eat. We also brought an oven and are baking homemade bread. We’ll serve hot beans and warm homemade flatbread,’ Marko says.”
“The team from Donji Podgradci is one of 30 participating in the 19th ‘Days of Winter on Kozara.’ This economic and tourism event is the most attended so far. Culinary and sports competitions are almost secondary—the most important thing is socializing, which is why people gladly come to Mrakovica.”
“‘The days here are phenomenal. Anyone who hasn’t been should really come, so there are even more of us, to see the people and the customs,’ said Željko Crnomarković from the ‘Fazan’ Hunting Association in Stara Pazova.”
“Both guests and hosts are enjoying themselves. People have come to the mountain from all Potkozarje municipalities and cities. Each year, they say, it gets better.”
“‘There’s truly a big difference between before and now. You can see more people, better socializing—we’ve somehow all come together, which makes me very happy,’ said Indira Kapetanović from the Mrakovica Mountaineering Society.”
“Members of the ‘Dr Mladen Stojanović’ Scout Unit from Prijedor are also satisfied.”
“‘It sometimes feels a bit like a fair—but the nice kind, where everyone enjoys themselves, tastes food, socializes, and creates a positive atmosphere,’ said Ernest Badnjević from the ‘Dr Mladen Stojanović’ Scout Unit in Prijedor.”
“And that is, among other things, what makes the Krajina mountain so appealing.”
“‘Kozara is attractive to everyone. It offers numerous activities, and this event represents tradition, history, hospitality, gastronomy—all in one place—and every year it draws an increasing number of participants and visitors who enjoy spending a weekend on Kozara,’ emphasized Dijana Aramanda, Director of the Prijedor Tourism Organization.”
“Numerous guests from Serbia are also enjoying the weekend on the mountain. Among them are representatives of several tourism organizations cooperating with local partners. They praise the natural beauty and Potkozarje hospitality and promise to return next year for the jubilee 20th Days of Winter on Kozara.”
