During today’s meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, I will propose that the Sarajevo Haggadah, which has become an object of political misuse of Jewish cultural heritage, be returned to Israel, said Milorad Dodik, leader of SNSD.
He stressed that the Haggadah is not—and must never be—a tool of political confrontation.
“It is a witness to the history and culture of a people who survived persecution. Using the Haggadah to symbolically oppose Israel deeply offends those who understand what it means to the Jewish people. The intention to use a replica of this precious artifact to finance Gaza represents the height of intolerance toward the Jewish people,” Dodik wrote on X.
