The security situation in Republika Srpska is highly favorable, said Siniša Karan, Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska.
“We are witnessing a visible improvement in the security situation in Srpska,” Karan stated at a press conference following a meeting with Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and the Serb member and Chairwoman of the Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, along with the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and security agencies at the BiH level.
Karan emphasized that the police maintain good cooperation with citizens, who increasingly recognize that security is a concern for all residents, not just a matter for the police.
“The constitutional duty of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to maintain a favorable state of public order and peace and to serve as a guarantor of security for all citizens, particularly in light of the politically motivated process against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik,” Karan stated.
He warned that the politically orchestrated trial against Dodik is an attack on the institution of the President, thereby endangering Republika Srpska.
“That is why we want to assure the citizens of Srpska that there is no reason for concern regarding security, and that all our activities remain within the framework of the Constitution,” Karan stressed.
He recalled that over the past several years, more than 200 million KM has been invested in the development of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Additionally, he highlighted that police salaries in Srpska will be higher than those of other security structures in BiH. He also underlined that cooperation with other police agencies in BiH and the region remains strong, as per constitutional obligations.
Karan pointed out that ongoing recruitment efforts, as well as the education and training of young police personnel, are yielding positive results.
