Christian Schmidt was tasked with destroying Republika Srpska through intimidation and the persecution of its democratically elected leadership—the President of the Republic, members of parliament, the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, and ministers—writes lawyer Slavko Mitrović in a column for Glas Srpske.
“This is part of Germany’s rewriting of history—blurring Nazism and fascism—and an act of revanchism toward the Serbian people, who in two world wars stood on the side of the victors against aggressor Germany,” Mitrović wrote.
He added that, had it not been for this, subjugated Europe would today be speaking German—something U.S. President Donald Trump warned about recently in Davos.
“Unfortunately, the previous Biden administration supported what Schmidt was doing,” Mitrović noted.
According to him, the emergence of Branko Blanuša—described as a university professor and political unknown—was neither sudden nor accidental.
“It was prepared based on his psychological profile. In the snap elections for President of Republika Srpska, called by the circus-like CEC of Bosnia and Herzegovina and held on November 23 last year, Blanuša was the candidate of Schmidt, the false High Representative, as well as of prosecutors and judges from the unconstitutional ‘Court’ and ‘Prosecutor’s Office’ of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Mitrović claimed.
He further asserted that Blanuša was also backed by members of the unlawfully appointed Central Election Commission and judges of the unconstitutional Constitutional Court—something he says no legal system recognizes.
Mitrović argued that without the actions of those involved in the persecution of Milorad Dodik and the illegal stripping of the mandate he won in the 2022 elections, there would have been no fabricated “snap elections,” and thus no Blanuša candidacy.
“Nor would Blanuša have become president of the SDS—imposed by internal party clans—only to later blame him for electoral defeats, especially those in October this year,” Mitrović wrote.
He emphasized that this tightly linked chain of events against Republika Srpska began with the arrival of Christian Schmidt, sent to Bosnia and Herzegovina by Germany in mid-2021.
“Schmidt is a proven admirer of Hitler’s Reich and the Wehrmacht soldiers who committed horrific crimes against Serbs—from Kozara, Neretva, and Sutjeska to Kragujevac, Kraljevo, and many other places,” Mitrović stated.
He concluded that Republika Srpska has been under threat since its creation, but stressed that it is one thing to face hostile armies backed by Western powers and bombers, and quite another when attacks come from politicians within Serbian parties themselves.
“This shows that parts of the opposition structure are aligned with political Sarajevo’s plan to destroy Republika Srpska by provoking instability and chaos, spreading distrust, and attacking all of its institutions,” Mitrović warned.
He added that despite constant claims of collapse, Republika Srpska continues to function, build, increase GDP, and raise wages, pensions, and social benefits—making the lack of stronger public resistance to ongoing attacks and attempts to humiliate the Serbian people all the more troubling.
