Dodik: Trump is returning sovereignty to states and peoples

SNSD leader Milorad Dodik welcomed the decision by U.S. President Donald Trump for the United States to withdraw from 66 international organizations, stressing that these “quasi-institutions have for years been abused as lobbying tools and pressure groups of now-defeated neoliberal projects.”

Dodik said the decision demonstrates Trump’s consistency in restoring sovereignty to states and peoples—to whom it rightfully belongs.

“That is why this move is extremely significant, and I believe it is not the last, but that others will follow in the same direction,” Dodik wrote in a post on the social network X.

He emphasized that for a long time, under the guise of false multilateralism, certain structures around the world have been undermining state sovereignty and, even more dangerously, the democratic will of peoples.

“Wherever citizens democratically chose a different path, mechanisms of demonization, labeling, and the denial of basic rights to entire peoples were activated,” Dodik stated.

He underlined that Republika Srpska has experienced this firsthand—through attempts to influence political processes outside elections, outside institutions, and against the will of the people, to delegitimize elected representatives, and to challenge Republika Srpska’s right to decide for itself.

“That is why this move does not weaken states, but strengthens them—returning politics to the people and sovereignty above unhinged bureaucracies that have granted themselves the right to stand above everyone else and to play roles in international relations for which they were never given a mandate,” Dodik concluded.

U.S. President Donald Trump signed a memorandum ordering the withdrawal of the United States from 66 international organizations that no longer serve U.S. interests.
