Kaluža: Republika Srpska’s leadership recognized global geopolitical shifts in time

International relations expert Luciano Kaluža told SRNA that the leadership of Republika Srpska has recognized major changes in global diplomacy and successfully adapted to the new geopolitical reality — one in which Srpska has become an active international actor, rather than a mere observer.

“The leadership of Republika Srpska recognized the new geopolitical circumstances in time. Let me remind you — Russia has shifted its strategic principles regarding the special military operation; a new Syrian president was received in Moscow after years of support for Bashar al-Assad; and the U.S. has changed its approach to conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, the EU, and NATO,” Kaluža explained.

He emphasized that this marks a new phase in the development of Republika Srpska.

“The current moment has been recognized, and this shift is leading to Srpska’s advancement — not regression, as some claim,” said Kaluža.

Referring to the recent U.S. State Department statement following the session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Kaluža noted that it clearly demonstrates that Srpska is now treated as a political subject in its own right.

“That says it all. We have excellent relations with Russia, the U.S., and China — the three leading world powers. We are not making mistakes; on the contrary, Srpska is keeping pace with global processes,” he added.

Kaluža stressed that Srpska’s decisions and positions should be understood within this international context, as failing to do so would risk leaving it on the sidelines of major developments.

“Global changes are powerful, and Republika Srpska must be part of those processes. Its institutions — particularly the National Assembly — have recognized this in time and adapted to the new world order,” Kaluža concluded.
