Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation of Republika Srpska, Zlatan Klokić, stated that the verdict of the Court of BiH against the president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, represents a precedent that goes beyond the bounds of impartial judiciary and is perceived as a direct attack on the political will of the citizens of Srpska expressed through democratic elections.
“This verdict has broader consequences for the stability and functioning of BiH in line with the Dayton Agreement. As officials of Republika Srpska, we are obligated to stand with our institutions and with our president,” Klokić wrote on Instagram.
He emphasized that Republika Srpska is committed to dialogue and a political resolution of disputes and will never accept the humiliation of its institutions through judicial precedents.
The Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH upheld the first-instance verdict against President Dodik, sentencing him to one year in prison and banning him from political activity for six years for failing to comply with the decisions of Christian Schmidt.
