The confirmation of the first-instance verdict against the president of Republika Srpska marks the end of Dayton BiH, which no longer lives a constitutional life, said constitutional law professor Siniša Karan.
“What we have witnessed for years, and what has now reached its peak, is a violent campaign against Republika Srpska, its institutions, and the Serb people. The principles of the constitution, the rule of law, and democratic elections no longer exist. Today, BiH is the territory of a private individual—a fake high representative—who presents his arbitrariness as justice. Christian Schmidt has officially hammered the final nail into the coffin called BiH, confirming what we have been saying for years—Dayton is a dead letter to those who seek a unitary state tailored to the Bosniak people,” Karan told SRNA.
He stated that the Court of BiH and Schmidt, who lack both integrity and accountability to citizens, are attempting to overthrow the legitimate will of the Serb people.
“We tell them clearly: the people elect – the people recall. No one else! The Serb people have the obligation to defend their national and political identity. Their electoral will is named Milorad Dodik. In defending his legitimacy, we are defending our freedom, our Republic, and the honor of all those who gave their lives for the foundation of Republika Srpska,” said Professor Karan.
He stressed that Republika Srpska will not allow the annulment of its citizens’ electoral will or the destruction of its institutions.
“Republika Srpska is ready to fight—through institutions, politically, and democratically. History will record: this was the moment when an unelected and uninvited foreigner dismantled BiH, but strengthened the status and determination of Republika Srpska,” said Karan, who also serves as the Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska.
Minister Karan assessed this as the greatest crisis of the Dayton Agreement and the Constitution.
“The fight is institutional, democratic, and political. The Ministry of the Interior guarantees the security of all citizens, because peace has no alternative. Republika Srpska was created in peace and will endure in peace. Its institutions were established through the democratic capacity of the people’s will, and the people are the key bearer of sovereignty and the reflection of Republika Srpska’s autonomy within federal BiH,” concluded Minister Karan.
