ŠA Fest in a new format

ŠA Fest in a new format

This year’s ŠA Fest is being held in a somewhat different format compared to previous years. Due to the devastating floods that hit Prijedor and the surrounding region in March, the organizers have decided to postpone the usual program to next year. Instead, this year’s event will feature content that preserves the spirit of the festival.

Tonight in Prijedor, the ŠA Street will officially open. The event kicks off with an exhibition by artists from the Academy of Arts of the University of Banja Luka – Department of Film and TV. Visitors will have the opportunity to see how animation is created.

ŠA Street continues tomorrow with numerous activities for both children and adults. On Saturday, the final day of the event, the program will again feature children’s content, including an entertainer, followed by performances by the bands Sopot and Artan Lili.

Through a free program for children, artistic showcases, and educational content in the pedestrian zone of Prijedor, within the framework of Cultural Summer, the organizers are symbolically marking the festival’s sixth anniversary and preparing for next year.

Earlier, the organizers stated that the severe floods left behind damaged homes, destroyed infrastructure, and many families facing uncertainty — including numerous volunteers, their families, and friends of the festival.

They also noted that the infrastructure and stored equipment of ŠA Fest suffered significant damage, adding that this year’s budget allocation from the City of Prijedor, originally intended to co-finance the festival as a cultural event of importance to the city, should be redirected to the damage recovery fund and support for those affected.

ŠA Fest is a memorial festival dedicated to Prijedor visual artist and musician Dalibor Popović Mikša. It is held in Prijedor, and all festival proceeds go to the foundation of the same name, which supports talented artists and their original work.
