Trebinje: Summer tourist season officially opened

With a ceremonial program, the summer tourist season was officially opened in Trebinje. Already from the beginning of the year, all indicators suggest that the 2025 tourist season in the south of Republika Srpska could surpass the previous record year, which saw 231,000 overnight stays.

Accommodation capacities in Trebinje were already full in May, and even better results are expected at the peak of the season. The most numerous guests come from Serbia, but there is also a growing number of arrivals from other countries in the region and Europe.

The beginning of the summer season was marked by a concert and entertainment for the citizens of Trebinje and their guests, with expectations that it will be extremely successful.

“For the first four months of this year, we have indicators that match those of 2024, so we expect that year, which was a record so far, to be surpassed and even more successful,” said Nikola Kokić, spokesperson of the Trebinje Tourist Organization.

Tourism in Trebinje aims to become the second most important economic sector in the city’s development, after energy. However, the so-called grey zone—unregistered accommodations and unreported guests—still remains an issue.

“We are trying to bring all of that into legal frameworks, and the city will of course help, since everyone would benefit from that,” added Branislav Kešelj, head of the Department for Tourism and Environmental Protection.

For all citizens of Republika Srpska who wish to spend their vacation or part of it at one of the popular destinations in Srpska, tourist vouchers worth 100 KM each will once again be available starting tomorrow.

Whether it’s Trebinje, spa, or mountain resorts, thanks to these savings, a quality vacation can be enjoyed without traveling far from home.
