Special session of the National Assembly: Address by the President of Republika Srpska

A special session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska is currently being held in Banja Luka, with three agenda items.

The first item is the address of the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, marking 30 years since the signing of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Dayton Agreement).

There will be no parliamentary debate or voting following the president’s address.

President Dodik previously emphasized that the abuse of the authority by the illegitimate Christian Schmidt, along with the actions of certain courts and prosecutors, had led to a constitutional crisis in BiH:

“Republika Srpska has every right to raise its voice, demanding full respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement as it was originally written,” stated Dodik.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Nenad Stevandić, noted that the president’s address in the highest legislative body will contribute to further strengthening Republika Srpska’s international visibility, a goal that Dodik has advanced through his foreign engagements.

The other two items on the agenda are:

  • The Draft Law on Financing Political Organizations, and
  • The appointment of the acting Auditor General and Deputy Auditor General.
