Renowned Niš ensemble “Anima” performed for Banja Luka audience

As part of the manifestation “Days of Vlado S. Milošević”, the chamber ensemble “Anima” from Niš delivered a captivating performance in Banja Luka, celebrating two decades of dedication to high-quality artistic music.

The ensemble, which consists of professors from the Faculty of Arts in Niš—Aleksandra Ristić (soprano), Ana Veličković Igić (flute), and Ingrid Janković (piano)—has been active since 2003. In October 2023, they marked 20 years of artistic work with a special concert titled “20 Years of Magic.”

Janković told SRNA that the ensemble has performed on nearly all major stages in Serbia and at international chamber music festivals, continuously promoting artistic excellence.

“It’s a great honor to present ourselves for the first time with a full-length concert at the prestigious Days of Vlado S. Milošević event,” Janković said.

Their program featured works by the recently deceased academic Dejan Despić, one of Serbia’s most important composers of the 20th century. The ensemble performed selections from his extensive body of work, including “Koštana’s Song”, “Withered Roses”, “Ethno Sonata”, and “Spring Songs.”

A distinctive contribution of Anima lies in their unique combination of voice, flute, and piano, through which they present contemporary Serbian composers’ music across Serbia and Europe. In doing so, they promote not only the University and Faculty of Arts in Niš, but also the city of Niš itself.

The “Days of Vlado S. Milošević” is a cultural, artistic, and educational event that has become a recognizable symbol in Republika Srpska, BiH, and the wider region since its inception in 1999 in Banja Luka.
