The president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated, regarding the trial against him before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that it is an “artificial and Inquisition court” that has no constitutional foundation and was imposed by the international factor at a time when, as he put it, it was considered powerful and strong.
“But the fundamental fact remains that the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina is not competent, and such a court cannot exist if the rule of law is respected. The EU should be the one advocating and fighting for the rule of law. However, whenever it claims to do so, it is lying because in Sarajevo, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it behaves completely differently. They act as if they can impose solutions by force and power, just as they imposed this court,” Dodik told Tanjug.
However, he added that in international practice, it is very difficult to bypass this institution.
“What I have said remains true—this court has no constitutional basis, it is not an international agreement, and it is not part of international law. This court was not constitutionally conceived as such, yet it has dared to primarily prosecute Serbs, and now it is my turn,” Dodik concluded.
The trial of Dodik and the acting director of the Official Gazette, Miloš Lukić, resumed on Wednesday at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina after being interrupted on December 5 last year.
Dodik underwent surgery on December 9, and since the trial had not resumed since then, the defense requested that the trial against him and Lukić start over, as more than 30 days had passed since the last hearing.
Judge Sena Uzunović rejected the defense’s request for the proceedings to be restarted.
