Republika Srpska records highest number of tourist overnight stays

This year’s tourist season in Republika Srpska could conclude with a record-breaking one and a half million tourist overnight stays, demonstrating that Srpska is fertile ground for tourism investments, said Marko Radić, head of the Tourism Promotion Sector at the Republic’s Tourism Organization.

  • We are still waiting for the data for the last four months. If we compare this with 2023, we can expect about 400,000 more registered overnight stays, and I hope we will finish 2024 with one and a half million registered stays, which will be an absolute record since we began tracking these parameters in Srpska – Radić said.

He added that such a result would provide further incentive to promote tourism in Srpska with greater attention and financial resources.

It would also send a strong signal to investors that Republika Srpska is a fertile ground for investments – Radić emphasized in a statement for Srna.

Radić specified that in the first eight months of this year, Srpska recorded 802,000 tourist overnight stays, marking an increase of approximately 35,000 compared to the same period last year.

  • If we look at June, July, and August, there were 15,000 more overnight stays than in the same quarter of the previous year – Radić highlighted, adding that income from the tourist tax also grew by 5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Speaking about the upcoming activities of the Tourism Organization of Republika Srpska, Radić mentioned plans to attend three international fairs by the end of the year.

  • At the end of the month, we will be in Kragujevac, mid-November at the International Tourism Fair in Thessaloniki, and at the end of November at the International Tourism Fair in Novi Sad, where we plan to present a larger stand with more local tourist organizations from Srpska – Radić said.

He added that through these events, they will also encourage tourists from Serbia to visit Srpska, noting that tourists from Serbia accounted for 160,000 overnight stays in the first eight months of this year, compared to approximately 250,000 overnight stays in the previous year.
