The economy of Republika Srpska must turn towards the markets of BRIKS countries, which are vast and represent a significant opportunity for countries looking for prospects in the near future, stated the Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska in light of the upcoming BRIKS summit to be held in Kazan from October 22 to 24.
The Chamber emphasized that the current crisis in the economy of Srpska, largely a consequence of the economic crisis in the EU—Republika Srpska’s largest foreign trade partner—shows that reliance on a single market, even if it is the Union’s market, carries appropriate risks, highlighting the need to seek alternatives.
The participation of the Republika Srpska delegation at the upcoming summit provides additional support and opens doors for the economy to boldly seek ways to enter this market, the Chamber stated.
The delegation from Republika Srpska at the BRIKS summit will be led by President Milorad Dodik.
More than 60 heads of state have been invited to the summit, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who has announced his attendance.
The BRIKS group currently consists of 10 countries: Russia, China, India, Brazil, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, with several other countries expressing interest in joining.
The share of BRIKS countries in the global economy exceeds that of the G7—comprising the seven most developed countries—and this share continues to grow.
