International Children’s Theater Festival opens in Banja Luka

The 23rd International Children’s Theater Festival was opened at the Children’s Theater of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka with a performance of “The Neverending Story” by the Little Theater “Duško Radović” from Belgrade.

In addition to ensembles from Republika Srpska and Serbia, theater troupes from Romania, Italy, North Macedonia, Croatia, Russia, Mexico, Hungary, Spain, and Slovenia will perform for the youngest audience.

The play “The Neverending Story,” based on the novel by Michael Ende and directed by Serbian director Ana Tomović, tells the story of a ten-year-old boy who lives alone with his father and is bullied by his peers due to his great love for books and reading.

The competitive segment of the festival will feature 12 performances. The jury is headed by Polish theater director Jarosław Kilian, and the selection was made by Duško Mazalica, an actor from the Children’s Theater.

The festival will run until October 19, with sponsorship from the Office of the President of Republika Srpska, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, and the Ministry of Culture of Serbia.
