Security expert Dževad Galijašević stated that the celebration of Iran’s attack on Israel in the streets of Sarajevo mirrors the political and religious identity of Sarajevo’s Muslims, who, he claims, are oriented towards war and a radical perception of Islam.
Galijašević pointed out that, although this radical perception of Islam originates from Shia Iranian Islam and Bosnian Muslims are Sunnis, whenever Muslims are at war with Israel, taxi drivers and certain other groups take to the streets.
“All of this is secretly organized by political structures. Politicians who cowardly remain silent about the suffering of people in the Middle East are actually behind the organization of such celebrations, sending a message to both Iran and the Islamic world that radical Islamism is still alive in Sarajevo,” the security expert said for Srna.
He also referenced an incident at the Theresian Military Academy in Austria, where a Bosnian cadet refused to shake hands with Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner for religious reasons during a ceremony.
“The incident at the Theresian Military Academy and the celebration of Iranian attacks on Israel are just further confirmation of the mindset and state of spirit that prevails in Sarajevo. Iran’s presence in Sarajevo is significant,” Galijašević emphasized.
He recalled that even after the 1996 operation at Pogorelica, when American troops along with SFOR intervened and arrested Iranian instructors, and both Defense Minister Hasan Čengić and Interior Minister Bakir Alispahić were removed, Iran has continued to exert influence in Sarajevo.
“Iran operates its own television channels, ‘Sahar’ and ‘Behar,’ broadcasting eight hours of programming in what is referred to as the Bosnian language. They have their own research institute, ‘Ibn Sina,’ which is essentially an intelligence center, as well as a cultural club opened during the war in 1994 by Ali Akbar Velayati, Iran’s Foreign Minister. Iran also runs 20 large humanitarian organizations,” Galijašević noted.
According to him, for some reason, the West has not sought to expel Iran from Sarajevo, believing it creates a balance against Wahhabi Islam.
“The West has, in fact, tried to control global terrorism and radical Islamists from Bosnia and Herzegovina and has never truly sought to confront them. The West viewed Iran’s presence as weakening the Wahhabi structure of the King Fahd Mosque, remnants of the El Mujahideen unit, and the AID structure,” Galijašević explained.
He emphasized the need to stop the war in the Middle East, which now, more than ever, requires agreements and negotiations.
“But how can that be achieved when you applaud a war initiated by Iran, which has taken on a completely new dimension and could escalate into a global military-political conflict involving great powers, with Russia and China on one side and the U.S., NATO, and the EU on the other?” Galijašević questioned.
After Iran’s attack on Israel last night, a “celebration” was organized in the streets of Sarajevo. According to federal media reports, a car parade took place in the city’s streets.
