In the heart of Banja Luka, near the Kastel Fortress, a monument to the medieval Serbian ruler Stefan Tvrtko I Kotromanić has been erected.
Standing over ten meters tall, this monument symbolizes a significant period in Serb history and cultural heritage.
The monument is set amidst lush landscaping and an impressive fountain with eight cascades, representing the waterfalls of the Vrbas River.
The statue of Tvrtko I Kotromanić is now one of the new symbols of Banja Luka, designed to highlight Serb historical heritage and underscore the connection between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Serbian people. Its location bridges several important city neighborhoods, making the monument a central meeting point in the city.
Mayor Draško Stanivuković emphasized that the installation of the monument to Stefan Tvrtko I Kotromanić preserves an important part of Serbian history in the heart of Banja Luka, adding:
“This monument is not just a new postcard of our city, but also a reminder of the rich historical heritage we share and the foundation of Serbian culture and tradition in this region.”
