Dodik: Schmidt is trying to be part of BiH in a false way

Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina are afraid that something they managed to achieve in a deceitful way will be undone, whether Christian Schmidt testifies in Strasbourg or not, because it is unsustainable, said the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.

Commenting on Schmidt’s involvement in certain processes and his absence from the trial at the Court of BiH against the President of Republika Srpska and the acting director of the “Official Gazette,” Dodik stated that this is clearly an abuse.

Schmidt is expected to testify at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg in the case “Kovačević v. BiH,” and Avaz reported that he has been invited “as an expert interpreter of the Dayton Peace Agreement.”

The Court of BiH rejected the defense’s proposal to summon Schmidt as a witness in the criminal proceedings against the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, citing Schmidt’s “diplomatic immunity.”

“It is evident that none of this is in accordance with the regulations, nor with the reality of life in BiH. They are trying to turn this into a political platform,” Dodik told reporters in Novo Goražde.

Dodik emphasizes that Schmidt is trying to be part of the BiH narrative in a false way.

“It will eventually become clear that Muslim pressure will lead him not to attend, even though he requested it himself. This says a lot about the kind of person he is,” Dodik added.

Dodik also questioned why the Sejdić-Finci ruling, made over 15 years ago, has not been implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“It’s all part of a distorted daily narrative about the European path. It is perfectly clear that the problems being resolved in BiH must be part of a consensus, and that must be strived for. When they do reach a consensus, they present it as their own. This only shows they are small-minded people, who fail to realize that they will need the next consensus as well, but we will see how they obtain it,” Dodik concluded.
