Golić and Matviyenko: Russia committed to preserving the Dayton Peace Agreement

The Chairwoman of the Council of Peoples of Republika Srpska, Srebrenka Golić, met with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

During their working breakfast, Golić briefed Matviyenko on the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the pressures and sanctions faced by Republika Srpska.

Srebrenka Golić expressed gratitude to Russia for its principled stance and support of Republika Srpska, especially regarding the consistent and principled policy of ensuring the implementation and preservation of the Dayton Peace Agreement. She reiterated that Republika Srpska favors dialogue rather than imposition within BiH.

Matviyenko reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to respecting the Dayton Agreement and showed particular interest in the sanctions and intense pressures faced by the leadership of Republika Srpska and certain economic enterprises within the entity.

Golić also discussed the personal sanctions she has been subjected to by the U.S. administration. It was reiterated that, thanks to Republika Srpska, BiH remains the only European country, aside from Serbia, that has not imposed sanctions on Russia.

The Chairwoman of the Council of Peoples of Republika Srpska invited Matviyenko to visit Republika Srpska again, noting that the upcoming completion of the Serb-Russian Friendship Church in Banja Luka would provide a fitting occasion for such a visit.
