Today, the exhibition “Through the Creation of Nadežda Petrović” will open at the Museum of Herzegovina in Trebinje, organized as part of the “Vidovdan Celebrations.”
The Museum announced that the exhibition will be accompanied by the guest performance of the monodrama “Unwritten Letters” by Vanja Milačić, a leading actress of the National Theatre in Belgrade.
The monodrama “Unwritten Letters” portrays the life and work of Nadežda Petrović through a dialogue with and addresses to the great artist and friend Ivan Meštrović.
The exhibition is organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska and the Nadežda Petrović Gallery in Čačak, featuring original works by the renowned painter, adapted for the blind and visually impaired.
“The exhibition is the result of collaboration marking the significant anniversary of 150 years since the birth of this prominent Serb painter, recognized by UNESCO as a European figure in 2023,” the organizers stated.
The exhibition includes specially adapted tactile reproductions of several artworks from the memorial room of the Nadežda Petrović Gallery in Čačak, which held the title of Serbia’s National Capital of Culture in 2023 under the slogan “Čačak’s Birth.”
As part of this project, the city of Trebinje is presented as a special guest city and twin city to Čačak, highlighting the shared roots, artists, cultural bearers, and aspirations to align with contemporary values.
All works are supplemented with explanations in Braille, audio guides, and tactile reproductions designed and created by Nemanja Mićević, a graphic designer at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska.
