Drecun: Some are still bothered by Republika Srpska

Some are still bothered by Republika Srpska and have the idea to marginalize it and integrate it into Bosnia and Herzegovina, said Milovan Drecun, President of the Parliamentary Committee for Defense and Internal Affairs Republic of Serbia.

Speaking about the intention to adopt a resolution on Srebrenica at the UN, scheduled for May 23, Drecun mentioned that more than 60 Western countries will likely vote for the resolution, and recently, the Islamic State and the Islamic Conference, comprising around 50 countries, have also decided to support this resolution.

“If you simply add that up, you reach a figure of about a hundred countries. Of course, some countries understand how serious this problem is and how severe the consequences will be. These countries understand that international law is often used selectively,” Drecun told RTS.

He noted that some are still bothered by Republika Srpska and have the idea to reduce it to a margin that would practically mean nothing and would be absorbed into the Federation, i.e., into Bosnia and Herzegovina, which would be under the significant dominance of the Bosniaks and their leadership.

“It seems that some do not aim to stabilize the situation in the Balkans and develop it in a positive direction, but rather to reopen old wounds,” Drecun emphasized.
