“Petković: Constitutional court has moved BiH farther away from Brussels”

“With a Constitutional court like this, we cannot speak about the rule of law because it is a classic tyranny, and today we are far from Brussels,” said Milan Petković, a lawyer and member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, during his appearance on our Morning Program.

“The priority of every country must be the rule of law. If we don’t consider ourselves equal, then we don’t live in a state of law. That is one of the conditions for negotiations and entry into the EU,” emphasized Petković.

The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, is traveling to Brussels today, where he will request at a high-level meeting the consistent implementation of all priorities from the European Commission Opinion.

“BiH is burdened with serious problems. We have a government crisis that has been lasting for an extended period, and something needs to move forward in Brussels. If the European Union wants BiH as its member, it must consider the requests from Republika Srpska, which in a way contributed to the formation of today’s BiH. On the other hand, this system suits the Bosniaks because it solely protects their interests unlike the other two constituent peoples,” asserted Petković.

American Ambassador Michael Murphy, once again, directly threatens elected officials of Republika Srpska.

“We cannot question Murphy’s legitimacy as the US ambassador to BiH, but his interference in the internal affairs of another country is indeed significant. This is not a matter for America, but for Europe and Brussels. Whenever the US has conducted reforms in these areas, it hasn’t ended well,” stated Petković.

The trial against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the Acting Director of the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska, Miloš Lukić, continues on Wednesday.

“We are in the phase of the main trial; Dodik and Lukić have pleaded not guilty, and now we expect the Prosecution to present evidence and argue the indictment. A good legal team for defense has been assembled, reassuring us that anything but an acquittal would be a significant scandal. However, we have the court we have, and there is concern that the final decision might have political implications. It started as political, and I hope it ends in legal grounds,” highlighted Petković.

He also commented on the statements made by the Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez.

“I don’t expect there to be a dismissal because he will be protected by his mentors and political allies on the BiH scene,” concluded Petković.
