Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić has thanked Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya for his clear statements at the UN Security Council and his support for respecting the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional position of Republika Srpska.
Minić emphasized the importance of ensuring that Republika Srpska’s commitment to the Dayton Peace Agreement and its efforts to resolve political disputes through dialogue are recognized internationally.
“It is important for us that the international community hears that Republika Srpska has defended the Dayton Agreement and proposed solutions through dialogue. Our commitment remains unchanged: preserving peace, protecting the competencies of Republika Srpska and reaching agreements among domestic representatives, while respecting the rights of all three constituent peoples,” Minić stated.
Future of BiH must be decided by its peoples and elected representatives
The Prime Minister stressed that political decisions concerning the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina must remain in the hands of its constituent peoples and democratically elected representatives.
“The future of BiH must be in the hands of its peoples and their elected representatives in the institutions,” Minić wrote on X.
He emphasized that dialogue and domestic political responsibility are essential for building lasting stability.
“Only in this way can we build trust and ensure lasting stability,” Minić added.
Nebenzya criticizes Western countries over political situation in BiH
During the UN Security Council session on BiH, Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya criticized Western countries for their role in the country’s political difficulties.
Nebenzya argued that Western countries had created many of the problems facing BiH and were now attempting to shift responsibility onto Republika Srpska.
According to the Russian ambassador, Republika Srpska had taken decisive steps to defend the Dayton Peace Agreement.
Minić’s statement followed Nebenzya’s remarks at the Security Council, reaffirming Republika Srpska’s position that the Dayton framework, constitutional competencies and agreements among domestic political representatives must remain the foundation of BiH’s political future.
