Representatives of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska and the US State Department met in Washington to discuss current political and institutional developments in Republika Srpska and BiH, as well as opportunities to maintain and strengthen communication and cooperation.
The Republika Srpska delegation included Siniša Bundalo, Head of the International Relations Department of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, and Nikolina Hajder, Head of Protocol.
The US State Department was represented by Ilan Goodman, Acting Director of the Office of Western Balkan Affairs, and Katherine von Oppenheim, the BiH Desk Officer at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
Direct dialogue with US institutions emphasized
During the meeting, representatives of the National Assembly stressed the importance of direct dialogue with American institutions.
They emphasized that open and regular communication is essential for strengthening mutual understanding, particularly on issues where different perspectives exist.
The Republika Srpska representatives also highlighted the positive and professional relations established with US institutions, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining and further developing cooperation.
According to a statement issued by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, the delegation expressed its willingness to continue constructive engagement with American officials.
Opportunities for further institutional cooperation
The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of institutional contacts and constructive dialogue on matters of mutual interest.
Both sides discussed possibilities for maintaining direct communication and expanding opportunities for exchanging information and views.
The talks also highlighted the role of regular institutional engagement in supporting mutual understanding and continued cooperation between representatives of Republika Srpska and US institutions.
