Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said in Banja Luka that his meeting with Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs focused on global economic trends as well as the economic challenges facing Republika Srpska.
Minić said the opportunity to speak with Sachs, whom he described as a renowned expert of global standing, was a great honor and privilege for the senior leadership of Republika Srpska.
“Jeffrey Sachs is one of the world’s leading economic experts, and Republika Srpska will present him with an honorary doctorate tomorrow, which is a meaningful gesture of recognition,” Minić said.
He added that the talks covered developments in the global economy and ways in which Republika Srpska could respond to international economic challenges.
“Today we discussed general economic trends around the world, the challenges Republika Srpska is facing and possible ways to navigate global economic developments so that they do not cause major disruptions to our economy,” Minić said.
The prime minister expressed satisfaction that Sachs’ current visit would not be his last to Banja Luka, noting that there was mutual willingness to continue cooperation.
According to Minić, such cooperation could be particularly valuable when developing future economic measures in Republika Srpska.
“The creation of these measures is inevitably connected with economic developments in Europe and around the world. When you have an expert of this caliber, you can certainly position yourself and respond in the best possible way,” Minić emphasized.
The meeting was also attended by Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović and Milorad Dodik.
