Tegeltija: The right to conclude the Special Parallel Relations Agreement is an inseparable part of Dayton

The right to conclude the Agreement on Special Parallel Relations between Republika Srpska and the Republic of Serbia is an integral and inseparable part of the Dayton Peace Agreement and cannot be revoked by anyone except Republika Srpska and Serbia themselves, said legal expert, former president of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH and adviser to the President of Republika Srpska Milan Tegeltija.

“The request by 14 representatives, led by Denis Zvizdić, to suspend the Agreement on Special Parallel Relations between Republika Srpska and the Republic of Serbia is, by its very nature, an anti-Dayton activity and should be treated as such,” Tegeltija said.

According to Tegeltija, the request is legally without merit and lacks the capacity to produce any legal consequences.

However, he argued that it is politically dangerous because it represents an attempt to challenge the Dayton Peace Agreement in its existing form.

“Such a request demonstrates the intention of its proponents to negate the fundamental principles of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which could ultimately jeopardize stability and peace in BiH,” Tegeltija concluded.
