In Trebinje, I have the pleasure of speaking with renowned director Lordan Zafranović about the long-awaited film “Children of Kozara” – a work dealing with the difficult, sacred and painful subject of the suffering of Serb children and the Serbian people in the horrors of Kozara, Jasenovac and the criminal Independent State of Croatia (NDH). This is not just a film, President Milorad Dodik said.
“This is a debt we owe to our ancestors, to the innocent children who perished, and to the truth that we must never allow to be forgotten,” Dodik wrote on X.
Republika Srpska, together with Serbia, provided financial support for the production of this important film, Dodik added, because of their deep commitment to the culture of remembrance and the obligation to speak about Serbian suffering with dignity, truthfully and powerfully.
“Respect to Lordan Zafranović for his perseverance, courage and artistic strength to reopen a wound of history so that the truth remains alive rather than being replaced by imposed silence. The children of Kozara are not merely the subject of a film – they are a pledge of our remembrance. Republika Srpska will always stand behind projects that preserve the identity, truth and memory of our people,” Dodik said.
