The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, said that the new voting method to be used in the upcoming general elections is the result of what he described as manipulation involving Christian Schmidt.
Stevandić argued that the changes have made the electoral process more complicated and stressed that significant efforts will be needed to educate voters on the new system.
“To be completely honest, it is obvious that the equipment was procured earlier and that the design of the ballot paper was adapted to the equipment, because the larger ballot could not fit into the scanner,” Stevandić told reporters in Banja Luka.
He further claimed that the electoral process had been adjusted to suit previously purchased equipment rather than the needs of voters.
“Instead of technology and electoral control mechanisms being adapted to voters, the voters are being forced to adapt to someone else’s manipulations, in which Schmidt was involved. We usually learn the full truth about such things ten or fifteen years later. Rather than adapting the scanners to the voting process and the interests of voters, the ballot paper has been adapted to the scanners. It is a disgrace. Let the Central Election Commission prove me wrong,” Stevandić said.
