The exhibition “Landscapes of Herzegovina” by academic painter Angelina Vukosav from Nevesinje was officially opened at the Gradiška Heritage Museum gallery.
Visitors had the opportunity to view works inspired by the natural beauty of Herzegovina, which forms the central theme of Vukosav’s artistic expression.
Through carefully composed paintings, drawings, and watercolors, the artist captures the beauty, light, and spirit of her native region in a distinctive and sensitive manner.
Presenting her work to the Gradiška audience, Vukosav said the exhibited pieces were created during 2026 and form part of her latest artistic cycle.
“These paintings were created in 2026 and belong to my third cycle, which is recognizable by the dominance of yellow. Here, yellow is particularly striking and carries exclusively positive symbolism. It represents light, freedom, life, the sun, infinity, and open space,” Vukosav said.
“Although the works depict landscapes of Herzegovina and meadow motifs, art is a free form of expression, so I believe viewers may also recognize other regions in them, perhaps even their own homeland,” she added.
Vukosav said the audience would be best placed to assess the energy and temperament woven into the canvases.
“My intention was to convey positive energy and a sense of freedom and beauty through these works, and I hope I have succeeded,” she said.
Bojan Vujčić, Director of the Gradiška Heritage Museum, expressed satisfaction that the institution had the opportunity to host the artist and present her work.
“She is a young, 30-year-old artist who has already held numerous successful exhibitions. She contacted us at the beginning of the year with the wish to exhibit in our gallery, and we are pleased that we were able to provide this date. Her summer motifs have proved to be an excellent choice for our audience in July,” Vujčić said.
The exhibition “Landscapes of Herzegovina” will remain open to visitors until mid-August.
