Respect for every victim and a culture of remembrance are something the Serb and American peoples share, Marko Romić, Secretary General to the President of Republika Srpska, told RTRS’s morning program while commenting on yesterday’s commemoration of Serb victims in the Middle Podrinje and Birač region.
“What happened in Podrinje and Birač must never be repeated,” Romić said.
Yesterday’s commemoration of the suffering of Serbs in the Middle Podrinje and Birač region was also marked by the presence of representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, which Romić said was not an isolated case.
Asked to comment on Independence Day, which was marked yesterday in the United States, Romić added that this year marks the 250th anniversary of independence.
“It was a gradual revolution — the overthrow of one oppressive, occupying yoke and the creation of a free and independent state of the American people,” Romić said in a live appearance from Arkansas, where he attended the Independence Day celebrations in the United States.
